A Playoff Berth, a League Title Shot & the Week 10 Finale
Week 9 belonged to the Wilmington Hurricane: they stunned previously unbeaten Goshen 27-7 on the road Friday, Oct 16, clinched an OHSAA Division II playoff berth, and now play for the Southern Buckeye Conference title in the regular-season finale. The Blanchester Wildcats won 27-7 at Bethel-Tate, while the Clinton-Massie Falcons fell at Western Brown and the East Clinton Astros dropped their road game at Williamsburg. This week also brings the final Friday night of the regular season, girls soccer sectionals, cross country districts, and the booster clubs that keep Clinton County athletics going. Here is the Week 9 recap, the full Oct 23 slate, and where the fall postseason stands.
The weekly overview: Friday, Oct 16 was the biggest night of the Clinton County fall so far. The Wilmington Hurricane beat a Goshen team that had not lost all year, clinched the program's first playoff berth in years, and set up a Friday night league-title showdown with New Richmond in the season finale. Blanchester kept its late-season momentum rolling with a road win, and Clinton County's other two teams fought to the final whistle in losses. Beyond the gridiron, fall tournaments are in full swing: girls soccer sectionals, volleyball sectionals, and cross country districts all land in the next few days.

Booster Clubs in Action: How to Help This Week
With the regular season ending Friday and fall tournaments ramping up, the booster clubs are focused on memberships, volunteer sign-ups, and the campaigns that keep Clinton County athletics funded all year. Here is where each organization stands right now:
The "4 Quarter Drive" capital campaign continues with a $460,000 goal for field turf replacement at the Falcon stadium, and its Zeffy fundraising page showed roughly $68,550 raised as of early October. The companion project to expand the track to eight lanes remains part of the drive. The 2026-27 annual membership is open at $50, and corporate sponsorship packages are available as the season's final home stretch approaches. Explore cmathleticsboosters.org, join as a member, or give to the turf replacement fund.
With playoff football officially on the calendar, the Hurricane boosters are focused on membership, season passes, and concessions volunteers for the 2026-27 school year, all coordinated through the Wilmington Athletic Department. The association supports every Hurricane student-athlete through concessions, memberships, season passes, and scholarships. The district's booster page lists how to join and volunteer. Visit the Wilmington High School Boosters page for how to help.
The club, organized as a 501(c)(3) nonprofit, keeps its 2026-27 membership open and coordinates concession volunteers and scholarships for graduating senior athletes. Its flagship fundraiser, the Blue Tie Event honoring Wildcat athletic legends, is a spring tradition; the most recent edition was held in March. Visit blanathleticboosters.org for membership and volunteer details.
The Astro boosters run recurring fundraisers including the football and basketball golf outing, an annual spaghetti dinner, a baseball golf outing, and volleyball fundraisers. Specific dates for the 2026-27 school year are posted on the official East Clinton athletics booster page as events are finalized. See the East Clinton Athletics booster page for dates and sign-ups.
Compliance note: All fundraisers featured above are organized by independent, school-affiliated booster and band organizations. Glasshouse Realty does not operate these fundraisers and receives no proceeds from them; ticket and donation details come from each group's official pages.
