Week 8 Results, an Away-Game Friday & Booster Club News

Week 8 is in the books, and the Wilmington Hurricane was the only Clinton County team to leave the field with a win: the Hurricane beat the Batavia Bulldogs 21-15 on homecoming night at Alumni Field, while Goshen rallied past the Clinton-Massie Falcons 27-23, Williamsburg ran away from the Blanchester Wildcats 69-18, and Fayetteville-Perry topped the East Clinton Astros 30-20. Friday, Oct 16 is an away-game night for all four Clinton County teams, and the Wilmington band calendar carries two community highlights this week: the WHS band concert Thursday and the Marching Band Invitational Saturday. Here is the Week 8 recap, the full Oct 16 slate, and the booster club news worth your time this week.

Mid-October means the regular season is entering its final stretch. Wilmington's homecoming win keeps the Hurricane at 4-4 with a playoff push still in reach, Clinton-Massie dropped a heartbreaker after leading at the half, Blanchester hit a rough night against the region's top team, and East Clinton scored its most points of the season despite the loss. The best part of the week ahead: every Friday night road game is a chance to pack the away stands and show these kids who is behind them.

Booster Clubs in Action: How to Help This Week

With every football team on the road Friday, the booster clubs turn the week toward memberships, volunteer sign-ups, and the programs that keep Clinton County athletics funded all year. Here is where each organization is focused right now:

Clinton-Massie Athletics Boosters

The "4 Quarter Drive" capital campaign continues with a $460,000 goal for field turf replacement at the Falcon stadium, and its Zeffy fundraising page showed roughly $68,550 raised as of early October. The companion project to expand the track to eight lanes remains part of the drive. The 2026-27 annual membership is open at $50, and corporate sponsorship packages are available as the season's final home stretch approaches. Explore cmathleticsboosters.org, join as a member, or give to the turf replacement fund.

Wilmington Hurricane Boosters Association

With the football team on the road Friday, the Hurricane boosters are focused on membership and season passes for the 2026-27 school year, sold through the Wilmington Athletic Department. The association supports all Hurricane student-athletes through concessions, memberships, season passes, and scholarships. The district's booster page lists how to join and volunteer. Visit the Wilmington High School Boosters page for how to help.

Athletic Boosters of Blanchester

The club, organized as a 501(c)(3) nonprofit, keeps its 2026-27 membership open and coordinates concession volunteers and scholarships for graduating senior athletes. Its flagship fundraiser, the Blue Tie Event honoring Wildcat athletic legends, is a spring tradition; the most recent edition was held in March. Visit blanathleticboosters.org for membership and volunteer details.

East Clinton Athletic Boosters

The Astro boosters run recurring fundraisers including the football and basketball golf outing, an annual spaghetti dinner, a baseball golf outing, and volleyball fundraisers. Specific dates for the 2026-27 school year are posted on the official East Clinton athletics booster page as events are finalized. See the East Clinton Athletics booster page for dates and sign-ups.

Compliance note: All fundraisers featured above are organized by independent, school-affiliated booster and band organizations. Glasshouse Realty does not operate these fundraisers and receives no proceeds from them; ticket and donation details come from each group's official pages.

Around the County: Band Festivals, District Calendars & a Nearby Greene County Note

Beyond the football field and the tournament brackets, the school calendar stays busy:

Marching Band Saturday in Wilmington

The Wilmington Marching Band Invitational on Oct 17 is the season's showcase night, bringing multiple high school bands to Wilmington for OMEA adjudicated performances starting at 5:00 PM. It is free community entertainment worth circling on the calendar; check the official invitational page for the full lineup and any admission details.

Nearby: Xenia Band Boosters' Last Blast Music Fest

The same Saturday in nearby Greene County, the Xenia Band Boosters host their 4th Annual Last Blast Music Fest at Doug Adams Stadium, featuring the Xenia Marching Buccaneers alongside visiting high school bands, the Wilberforce University band, and a drum battle. It is a strong option for marching band fans a short drive from Clinton County. See the Xenia Bands festival page.

Fall Sports Race Toward the Postseason

Volleyball and soccer teams across Clinton County are closing out regular-season play ahead of sectional tournaments the week of Oct 19, cross country heads to districts Oct 24, and golf season wrapped up its 2026 state tournaments in mid-October. Meet and match sites shift with weather, so each school's athletic calendar is the source to check week to week.

Why Your Support Matters: Every Dollar Stays Local

When you renew a booster membership, buy a season pass, or take a shift behind the concession window, the money and the time stay right here in Clinton County. They become field turf and track work at Clinton-Massie, uniforms and music for the Wilmington bands, team meals and scholarships for Hurricane, Wildcat, and Astro student-athletes. The "4 Quarter Drive" is a good example: every tax-deductible donation goes toward facilities that every Falcon athlete will use for years.

This is what community looks like in October: parents loading up for a Friday night road game, local businesses sponsoring a program, and families showing up to cheer for kids who wear the same school colors. A band invitational on a Saturday, a county full of away-game supporters, and a community that always shows up, that is Clinton County in the fall.
