Why This Friday Is the Big One
The Clinton-Massie Falcons and Wilmington Hurricane are the county's two SBAAC American Division programs, and Friday's meeting in Clarksville is the head-to-head that shapes the local league picture. The boosters on both sides treat it as a full-home-stand night: the Clinton-Massie Athletics Boosters run concessions at capacity for the year's biggest home crowd, and the Wilmington Hurricane Boosters Association coordinates the traveling support right down to the gate. Booster Clubs in Action: Where Your Support Goes This Month
While the teams take the field, the booster clubs are running the operation behind them. Here is what the county's booster organizations are focused on as October gets going:
The "4 Quarter Drive" capital campaign to expand the track to eight lanes and replace the aging turf field continues, and donations are tax-deductible through the group's 501(c)(3) status. Annual memberships and corporate sponsorship packages remain open as the boosters staff the biggest home game of the season Friday. Explore cmathleticsboosters.org, join as a member, or give to the turf replacement fund.
The boosters support Hurricane student-athletes, including scholarships, through concession sales, memberships, and season passes. Homecoming night Oct 9 is the season's biggest volunteer lift, so concession help and event volunteers are especially welcome as the band chili supper crowd hits the school. Visit the Wilmington High School Boosters page for how to help.
Membership renewals for 2026-27 are open, and the club is gearing up for a home-heavy stretch at Barbour Memorial Field starting with Friday's game against Clermont Northeastern. Home-game fundraisers continue through the season, and the annual Blue Tie Event returns in the spring to honor Wildcat coaching legends. Visit blanathleticboosters.org for membership and volunteer details.
Volunteer sign-ups are open for concessions, field crew help, and team meal coordination as the Astros hit the road for three straight away games. On the fundraiser calendar listed by the boosters: a football and basketball golf outing and a spaghetti dinner, with dates published on the official booster page. See the East Clinton Athletics booster page for dates and sign-ups.
Around the County: Fall Sports Heading Into Championship Season
Football owns Friday nights, but the rest of the fall calendar is moving fast too:
East Clinton's volleyball team has spent September near the top of its division standings and keeps playing a demanding league schedule into October. Clinton-Massie found momentum with a straight-set sweep of Bethel-Tate last month. League matches run multiple nights a week; the official athletic pages list each night's location and time. Cross country teams across Clinton County are building toward their league championships and OHSAA tournament season, and golf squads are closing out league play ahead of sectional tournament dates. Meet sites and times change with weather, so the school athletic calendar is the source to check each week.

Why Your Support Matters: Every Dollar Stays Local
When you buy a bowl of chili on Oct 9, renew a booster membership, or volunteer a concession shift, the money and the time stay right here in Clinton County. They become new band music and uniforms, turf repair and track resurfacing at Clinton-Massie, team meals for the Astros, and scholarships for Hurricane student-athletes. The "4 Quarter Drive" is a perfect example: every tax-deductible donation goes directly toward facilities that every Falcon athlete will use for years.
This is what community looks like in October: parents behind the concession window, local businesses sponsoring a program, and families showing up to cheer for kids who wear the same school colors.
