The heartbreak of Week 1 gave way to celebration on Friday, August 28. Wilmington earned its first win of the season, a dominant 35-7 home opener over Miami Trace. Blanchester picked up its first victory too, a 41-20 road win at Cincinnati Country Day. Clinton-Massie fell in a tight one at Coldwater, and East Clinton dropped a tough game at Cedarville. Now the season turns to September, with a full slate of Friday night football and booster clubs gearing up for a big fall ahead.
A week ago, Clinton County went 0-4 but three of the four losses came by a touchdown or less. This week, the teams that fought so hard found their footing. Wilmington delivered the statement win of the night in front of a home crowd, and Blanchester finally broke through with its first victory of the season. The Hurricane rolled to their first win of the season and the first under new head coach Zach Williams, powered by the running game of Josiah Puller and Jaidyn Collier. The Wildcats put the Week 1 heartbreak behind them in a big way, rolling to a 41-20 road win over Cincinnati Country Day. The victory is Blanchester's first of the season and shows exactly what this offense is capable of after rallying late in the opener. The defending SBAAC American Division champions dropped a hard-fought 14-6 contest at Coldwater. It was a defensive battle throughout, with the Falcons' home-opener crowd left wanting more. Clinton-Massie Falcons vs. Tri-Valley

The Falcons return to their home field for the first time since Week 2's opening-night loss to Coldwater, hosting Tri-Valley in the first game of the September slate. Booster Clubs in Action: How You Can Help This Fall
While the players are on the field, the boosters are working behind the scenes to make it all happen. Here is a snapshot of what each booster organization is focused on as September gets underway:
The "4 Quarter Drive" capital campaign to replace the turf field and expand the track to eight lanes continues, and thanks to the organization's 501(c)(3) status, donations are tax-deductible. Memberships start at $50 per year, and the boosters are recruiting parent volunteers for game-day operations and local business sponsors for the fall season. With the home opener in the books and momentum building, the Wilmington boosters are focused on the rest of the fall schedule. Athletic season passes for 2026-27 remain on sale, and every purchase directly supports Hurricane athletics. Friday night football is the main event, but a full lineup of fall sports competition is underway across Clinton County. Volleyball, boys and girls soccer, cross country, golf, and girls tennis all have busy early-season schedules, and every one of these programs relies on booster support:
Wilmington swept county rival Blanchester in a strong home opener, and East Clinton opened the season with a road win. Early-season conference play continues across the county this week as the Hurricane, Falcons, Wildcats, and Astros work toward league contention.
Soccer is well into its season across Clinton County, with home and away matches filling the week. Check each school's athletic schedule for the latest match times and locations.
After the early-season invitationals in late August, distance runners across Clinton County continue to build base times and team depth ahead of championship season in October. Every early meet helps establish goals for the postseason.
